Android 8.0 Oreo update to hit Lenovo K8, K8 Plus and K8 Note

Android 8.0 Oreo was launched back in August, which means a majority of the flagships are due to receive it at the end of this year or the start of next. Lenovo has announced that their mid-tier handsets, the K8 series, which includes the Lenovo K8, K8 Plus and K8 Note will be receiving the Oreo update.

But here’s the thing. Most other manufacturers will be rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo in the coming 3-4 months, whereas Lenovo has released a timeline that is so far into the future, that by the time all the K8 phones get the update, Android 9.0 will be in queue for launch.

Gizchina News of the week

The Lenovo K8 will be receiving the update by June 2018, the K8 Plus and the K8 Note by July 2018. The timeline seems to have been stretched too far considering the fact that Lenovo does not have any devices lined up to receive the Oreo update. Another reason for the delay may be extensive changes over the Vanilla version. So if you own any of the K8 series phones, get ready for a long waiting time for the Android 8.0 Oreo update. But if you are impatient on getting the update, grab hold of one of the custom ROMs that are available online.
