It was earlier hinted that OnePlus 5T would soon get the iPhone X-style gesture navigation system on Oxygen OS. Well, with the latest Open beta 3 update, the feature has arrived. Not only that, the controversial clipboard app that was believed to be sending data to China has been removed as well. But talking about gestures, how can OnePlus 5T users get them?

There are only two steps really. One is to sign up for the Oreo beta program. The next is to enable gestures from the settings.

Gizchina News of the week

  • Sign up for the OnePlus 5T Oreo Beta
  • Enable Gestures

The first step is where you might want to consider taking a backup. Also, the first beta won’t come through an OTA, you’ll have to install it by downloading it manually. Keep in mind that once you’re in the beta, the stable build is denied to you. You shall only get beta updates. If you want to get back to stable builds, you’ll have to factory reset your OnePlus 5T and flash a stable build.

Download and install the latest Oxygen OS Open Beta 3 update

Having said that, download the Open beta 3 update and transfer it to the root folder of your OnePlus 5T. If you download via Mac, Android File Transfer tool will be needed.

Next, boot your phone in recovery mode. First turn it off. Then press and hold the power and volume down button. After the OnePlus logo appears, you’ll be offered some options.

Here, select install from Internal storage and select the .zip file you put in the root directory of your phone.

The recovery should flash the build but it could take some minutes. That’s it. You’ve installed the latest beta. Now all you need to do is enable the gesture features.

Enable Gestures

Go to the settings menu > Customization. Select the Buttons option. Now, toggle the “Hide the navigation bar” option. This should get the gestures working.
OnePlus 5T Gestures are pretty much like the iPhone X. Don’t worry, when you turn them on, you’ll be given a test drive of all of them. Go ahead give it a try and let us know.
