In India, Xiaomi has become the go-to brand among consumers who are looking to buy smartphones at reasonable prices. Counterpoint Research, a global research programme did a survey on Indian smartphone users recently. The study found that one out of three people prefer to buy a smartphone ranging around Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 and two would choose to buy a mid or premium smartphone. They added that from five smartphone users four of them are happy with their present devices.
Pavel Naiya, Senior Analyst at Consumer Lens said, “Mobile phone users in India are becoming more sophisticated as many of them are on their second or third smartphone. We have seen advanced features diffusing through the mid-tier segment faster than ever before and users are finding these features attractive enough to upgrade.” The Indian market has experienced swift growth as now special features from flagship phones start reaching the mid-tier segment in just six months.
Evidently, OnePlus has become one of the rapidly growing brands in the mid-range devices where consumers do not have to look away to purchase premium phones coming at an affordable price as OnePlus offers. Tarun Pathak (Associate Director) said that clearly, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) have become more vigorous in the market and it also offers a strong approach in the two important segments.
However, Xiaomi is currently the most favorable brand among Indians followed by Samsung which is ranked second and lastly OnePlus is competing with other brands like Vivo, Apple, Honor and Oppo to achieve the top spot
