Coolpad M3 is a $100 notched phone with AI face recognition


Coolpad has just added a new entry-level smartphone to its range of smartphones. Dubbed the Coolpad M3, the latest device from Coolpad is arguably one of the most pocket-friendly phone to feature a display notch and glass panel.

The device is expected to go on sale in China on November 28th via JD.com at 799 Yuan (~$115). You can however pre-order the device beginning from today via the same platform.

At 799 Yuan (~$115), Coolpad is offering you a basic smartphone with not only a notched display but with a large 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and dual rear camera setup.

The Coolpad M3 flaunts a 5.85-inch HD LCD display with a resolution of 1512 x 720 pixels, an aspect ratio of 19:9, and is powered by Mediatek’s octa-core MT6750 chipset. The display has a notch on top and the rear panel is made out of glass which reflects different shades of blue/black at different angles.

The Coolpad M3 gets a 2800mAh battery, runs Android 8.1 Oreo, and comes fitted with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, as well as an AI-enabled face unlock feature for additional security measure.

    Only downside of this phone that I can think of is the battery. If it got more than 3200mAh battery, I could get this as a second phone.
