Qualcomm announces the first batch of OEMs to use its 5G equipment

Today at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit held in Hawaii, Qualcomm announced the world’s first fully integrated 5G new air interface (5G NR) and subsequently released the much-awaited Snapdragon 855 5G SoC.

At the summit, Qualcomm’s President, Cristiano Amon, announced the list of vendors that will launch 5G smartphones using Qualcomm’s equipment next year. The list includes ASUS, Fujitsu, Google, HMD (Nokia), HTC, LG, Motorola, OnePlus, OPPO, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, vivo, Xiaomi, ZTE, and other less known manufacturers. Obviously missing from the list are the likes of Meizu and Smartisan.

The 6GHz RF module for 5G smartphones and other mobile terminals can adapt to different frequency bands of different operators in different regions. This millimeter-wave 5G RF module works in tandem with the Snapdragon X50. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC is equipped with the fourth-generation multi-core AI engine which provides a highly intuitive AI experience. Compared with the previous generation Snapdragon 845, the Snapdragon 855 AI performance has been improved by 3 times. In addition, the SD855 also integrates the world’s first computer vision (CV) ISP to support cutting-edge computing photography and video capture. This chip offers a new level of gaming experience to top mobile devices – the Snapdragon Elite Gaming.
