The Galaxy S10 is helping Samsung to triple its market presence in China

According to a reliable industry insider, Ice Universe, Samsung’s market share in China has almost quadrupled since the beginning of the year, going from the heartbreaking 1% in January to impressive 3.6% during the tenth week of 2019 – March 4th to March 10th. According to the report, the primary source of this “comeback” was the recently-announced Galaxy S10-series.

The new line of flagship devices was released on March 8th and has reportedly outperformed the tepid sales of last year’s Galaxy S9 lineup by massive margins in China. In fact, the number of Galaxy S10 and S10+ units sold within the first two hours of pre-orders was allegedly equal to the double of sales achieved by the Galaxy S9 and S9+ during the first day.

These impressive results are also being seen in other markets. In both the UK and the US, the Galaxy S10 series set a new pre-order record for Samsung. However, the biggest hit seems to be the most expensive, and powerful, Galaxy S10+. Although predictions do vary among analysts, the overall consensus appears to be that Samsung’s Galaxy S10 trio will achieve sales of between 40 and 45 million units by the end of 2019. In regards to short-term performance, recent forecasts suggest that the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10e are on the way of shipping a combined amount of 10 million units until the end of this month.

When it comes to the Chinese market, Ice Universe says that Samsung’s market share in the country is expected to grow even further throughout the entire year. And of course, this move will be driven by the Galaxy S10 series popularity in the country. However, Samsung’s recent midrange offerings are also proving to be popular. The South-Korean company saw strong competition from local brands, and that made the firm to rethink its strategy in the mid-range segment, by promising to deliver some features of its expensive lines to the mid-grades. The giant of Korea started to offer different and interesting design languages, while also focused on the camera capabilities of its smartphones.

So far this year, the South-Korean firm already released the Galaxy A10, A20, A30, and A50. According to a recent leak, the next in line is the Galaxy A40. These devices will combine forces, as the company’s best value-for-money offerings, to help the company cater to a range of consumers in the budget segment. When it comes to China, it’s really hard to compete in this segment with the local companies. Eventually, the Galaxy A60 and the Galaxy A70 will arrive to put more heat in the dispute. As the names suggest, these devices will focus on the premium mid-range segment. Last, on the list, there are rumors of a Galaxy A90, a handset that could feature the Snapdragon 855, but it will also be cheaper than the S10e model.

Apparently, Samsung’s new strategy is proving to be a hit right on the spot. If everything goes as planned by the Korean firm, more records will be broken, and Huawei will have a bad time trying to surpass the Galaxy S10 manufacturer.

    This is only temporary, by the end of the year just watch as they drop back to 1% when all the other Chinese players start playing

    Last paragraph made me laugh. Huawei with like ~26 or so percent of share would surpass the 3 of Samsung. Huh
