Android Q to come with full-screen swipe gestures


Native Android system remains one of the most preferred systems for smartphones however, not everything in the current Android 9 Pie system is perfect. Nevertheless, the company is getting set to launch the latest Android 10 Q and it is bringing some new features into this system. Today, Google confirmed that the Android Q will come with a new swipe navigation which will eliminate the buttons. While this feature is new to Stock Android, the likes of MIUI, EMUI and other customized Android systems have been using this feature. Technically, Google integrated the iPhone’s basic swipe gesture with MIUI edge-swiping back gesture.

However, there are some side menus in apps such as Gmail, Google Photos, Google Maps which are activated by swiping in from the left edge. This will clash with a design where the left slide will take you back. However, Google’s plan for now is to ensure that a swipe left will take you to the menu interface. Nevertheless, if you want to go back, you will have to double-swipe from the left. Although Google wants OEMs and app developers to stick with its new full-screen gesture pattern, they are at liberty to choose the pattern they want.
