According to Chinese media reports, at the 2019 MWC conference in Shanghai, Hu Houkun, vice chairman of Huawei, said in an interview that Huawei’s 5G technology solution is completely immune to US sanctions. Huawei has signed contracts and these future signings are fully guaranteed.
Hu Houkun expects that at the end of this year, Huawei’s 5G technology base station global shipments will be around 500,000 stations. As of now, Huawei’s 5G base station shipments are 150,000. In the first half of the year, 5G commercial launches were completed from Korea, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, Kuwait, and other countries. In these nations, 2/3 of the 5G launch were assisted by Huawei. Hu Houkun said that Huawei has won 50 5G commercial contracts so far, of which 28 contracts are from European customers, 11 in the Middle East, 6 in Asia Pacific, 4 in Latin America, and 1 in Africa.
Earlier, Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei said that the US ban had little effect on the company. He was not worried about the expected income adjustment, because even after adjustment, the company’s revenue will still exceed $100 billion this year. Ren Zhengfei said that due to the situation of Huawei in the United States, the company’s revenue is expected to decrease by $30 billion this year. Huawei’s budget this year is about $135 billion. He also mentioned that Huawei’s consumer business is still performing strongly in the Chinese market, mainly due to the impact of its foreign business.
