It is now almost a full year since Xiaomi released the Mi A2 and we’re expecting a successor. Except that we don’t have a clue this time about the Mi A3 design and specifications. The Mi A series has usually followed the mould of the Mi X i.e. the Mi 5X, Mi 6X etc. However, since there’s no sign of the Mi 7X right now, we’re left with little to make guesses. A leakster on Twitter has hinted that the Mi CC9e could end up being the Mi A3 Lite.

According to the tipster, the model numbers of the Mi CC9e (M1906F9Sx) show close resemblance to the Redmi 6 Pro/Mi A2 Lite (M1805D1Sx). Going by that logic, the Mi CC9 could be the future Xiaomi Android One phone. A separate tweet from the same tipster hinted that the design of the Mi A3 will be similar to the Mi CC9.
Looking at previous models of the Mi A series, it’s clear that they have a spec-sheet very similar to the Redmi Note Pro variant of their generation. Interestingly, Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain had previously stated that Xiaomi fans can expect one more 48MP camera handset and the company is also expected to bring a Snapdragon 7xx phone to market. All these indications make the Mi A3 a very intriguing device worth waiting for.
