Apple will allow independent shops to fix out-of-warranty iPhones

Apple

All of sudden, Apple announced that it will now allow users to repair their out-of-warranty iPhones on independent shops. Apparently, this move is a result of the Independent Repair Provider Program. It will basically provide parts, tools and training to shops that want to repair or work with genuine Apple hardware.

Unfortunately, the program is only available in the United States. However, it should come soon to other regions in Asia and Europe. Out of warranty repairs usually cover the broken front or rear glasses, cracked camera lenses, etc. Despite this “limitation”, it still is a great win for customers that will be able to choose where they can repair their handsets.

It’s also a great opportunity for starting repair shops and independent business. They can now apply for the program for free and will be provided with all the necessary tools and training. Worth noting that all the training preparation will be available online which is very convenient. Once an independent shop is approved in the program, it will get access to the same original Apple parts that are available for authorized resellers. More importantly, these genuine parts will be available at discounted prices. That’s another great step from Apple in offering proper after-sales support.
