Japanese manufacturer, Sony, is working on its latest flagship smartphone and there are indications that this smartphone will use the unreleased Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 flagship platform (tentative name). According to reports, tech nerds spotted the “SM8250” file on Sony Mobile’s firmware distribution server. The SM8250 is considered to be Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship Snapdragon 865 SoC.
According to speculations, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 will come in two versions. One will integrate a 5G modem while the other will not integrate a 5G modem at the chip level. It is not certain whether Sony’s next-generation Xperia flagship will have a 5G version. However, there are speculations that it will offer both 4G and 5G versions.
In accordance with Qualcomm’s practice, its Snapdragon 865 SoC will probably arrive at the end of this year. In addition, it should be officially available in the first half of next year. If nothing change and everything goes according to plan, the likes of Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, Jiajia, Nubia, Meizu, and other brands are likely to launch smartphones with the Snapdragon 865 SoC. For now, we do not know which of these manufacturers will first use this chip. However, Sony is unlikely to be the first to use this chip.
