Apple could incorporate a 120 Hz panel in its iPhone 2020, said a Digitimes report published Monday, October 28, 2019. “More and more smartphones will benefit from a display with a higher refresh rate” said Digitimes. This year, OnePlus has also extended the 90 Hz screens to all its smartphones. For its part, Google launched the Pixel 4 with a 90 Hz screen.

Apple would include a 120 Hz ProMotion OLED screen on the iPhone 12

According to Digitimes, it is possible that Apple wants to go even further with the integration of a 120 Hz screen in its iPhone. This is also the case of Samsung. In early 2020, the South Korean manufacturer will unveil the Galaxy S11, S11 Plus and S11e. This new generation has a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

As a reminder, Apple uses 120 Hz LCD screens on its iPad Pro since 2017. The tablets are equipped with ProMotion technology. This technology increases the refresh rate of only certain parts of the screen. In fact, the frequency climbs only on the parts in contact with the Apple Pencil. Other surfaces remain at 60 Hz.

Unsurprisingly, Apple could use ProMotion technology on its iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro to preserve the battery life. In these conditions, can we expect that the future iPhone will be compatible with the Apple Pencil, the stylus of the iPad? It is obviously still too early to say. Anyway, this is not the first time a leak ensures that Apple Pencil will soon be used on the iPhone.

While waiting for more information, we invite you to take this information with caution. For the record, Apple will present the iPhone 12 in the course of September 2020. The latest news claims that the iPhone 12 will have a screen without a notch and enjoy a design inspired from the iPhone 4. We will tell you more as soon as possible.
