Reading about the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 at this time seems really weird given that this device caused a lot of mayhem in 2016. Nevertheless, three years down the line, there are still court cases with regard to this phone. Recall that this smartphone was released in September 2016 and shortly after, its battery began to explode. To curtail the situation, Samsung had to recall the smartphone at a huge cost. Mr. Hui battles Samsung in court over the Samsung Galaxy Note 7
Mr. Hui was not satisfied with the ruling of the Guangzhou Intermediate People’s Court which says that Samsung China did not have any fraudulent intentions. The court says that the compensation for the phone as well as a damaged laptop as a result of the explosion is enough. At present, the Guangdong Higher Court has filed for a case review.
On September 26, 2016, Mr. Hui purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone. After just 13 hours of use, the phone spontaneously exploded and damaged a laptop on his side. After review by China Taier Laboratory under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, it was determined that Mr. Hui’s cell phone thermal damage was caused by the self-ignition of the battery.
Mr. Hui believes that Samsung China has fraudulent intentions against Chinese consumers, the basis with which he went to court. His request was that his compensation should be three times the cost of the phone and laptop. However, in November 2018 the Guangzhou Yuexiu District People’s Court ruled that Samsung would compensate Mr. Hui for the phone and a laptop of the same model. Nevertheless, it dismissed the triple compensation request. Mr. Hui did not accept the ruling.
In April 2019, the Guangzhou Intermediate People’s Court concluded that even though Samsung had shortcomings in dealing with the quality of the Galaxy Note 7 battery in mainland China, there was no evidence that it was intentional. We will keep our fingers crossed for the Guangdong Provincial High Court review process.
🤣🤣🤣 to say that it was intentional, and they wanted to cause harm to come consumers is asinine, seeing they note 7 had issues all around the world. His claim will most likely never be accepted lol.
Verizon nor Samsung asked for my two Note 7’s back after the second recall and receiving a full refund. Been using both, almost everyday since receiving them. Not a single issue. Obviously I cannot place calls with them, but they make a great mini tablet.
How did you manage that? Verizon literally made it impossible for the phones to charge EVER AGAIN. I guess you’re just really special…or lying. I’m gonna go with the latter.
It takes about 20 seconds to disable the Note 7 download manager which prevents all further updates including forced ones. It’s how I still use 6.0.1 on my S7, enabling it when I bring in new software and then disabling it again. Despite what you think, you don’t actually know everything.
I don’t believe there was ever an update to cause the Note 7 to not ever charge again. I think that ended up being a rumor. There was an update that limited how far the battery would charge which I never installed. I just kept ignoring the notifications to install the update. Then once the phone was disconnected from Verizon, never got the notification again. It only works on wifi or via tethering now. I’d be happy to post some videos of the fully functional phones if you’d like.
If you didn’t take the update you could use it and charge all the way up. I used my until the note 8 came out without one single issue.

As to how the guy feels they should get a refund 3x is beyond me. Least they offered to replace BOTH devices.
Different story had the device burned parts of his body which i have read in other articles online.
