Sony introduces the PS5 logo and confirms the release date

If you expected Sony to release new details about its next-generation PlayStation 5 console during its CES 2020 press conference, you will probably be disappointed. The only thing that the director of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, has shown about the new console is the official PS5 logo, which is the head of this article. It looks a lot like the PS4 logo, just changing the 4 to a 5, so it doesn’t have much interest.

Ryan has also recalled many of the features already announced, including the 3D sound that PlayStation systems architect Mark Cerny already unveiled in an interview with Wired last year. In addition to adaptive triggers and the haptic response of the upcoming DualShock controller. He also mentioned the ultra-high-speed SSD storage that will eliminate loading screens. Alongside with the hardware-based ray tracing and the Ultra HD Blu-Ray player that will be added to the new console when it is launched.

Gizchina News of the week

It is a pity that we have not yet seen an image of the console, especially considering that Microsoft has already presented its design and today has released its connectors.

On the other hand, Sony has released some impressive figures on the success of the PS4. The company has managed to sell 106 million consoles and 5 million PlayStation VR units. There are 103 million active users every month and almost 39 million PS Plus subscribers. In the games section, 1,15 billion games have been sold.

It is worth to mention that the PS5 will be able to run all PS4 games, and there is also talk about the support of some titles from even the previous gen-consoles. However, we should wait for more details in the upcoming months.

Sony has confirmed the holiday 2020 as a release date for the new console. What do you think about the upcoming Sony console? Will it succeed? Let us know in the comment box below.
