Microsoft Xbox Series X exclusive games will not dominate for at least another year

Earlier, Microsoft has announced that its next-generation console is the Xbox Series X. Surprisingly, the Xbox Series X’s exclusive games will technically not dominate for at least another year. For at least the first year after release, all Xbox Series X “exclusive” games will be playable on current console hardware. Xbox One and Xbox One X gamers will not miss any first-party games.

Matt Booty, the head of Xbox Game Studio said…”As our content will be released this year, next year, and within two years, all of our games (similar to PCs) will be playable on this series of devices,”

“We want to make sure that if someone invests in Xbox between now and [Xbox Series X], they will feel like they have made a good choice and we are committed to providing them with content.”

This means that any exclusive games launched on the Xbox console will run on two generations of Xbox hardware. Games like Halo: Infinity has been identified as cross-generational games. In addition, games like HellBlade II will be active across generations.

For Microsoft, this is not a new trend: Both Xbox One and Xbox 360 can run Xbox One’s unique Titans and Forza Motorsport: Horizon 2.

Microsoft Xbox Series X official announcement

In December, Microsoft officially announced the next generation Xbox at its Game Awards. From the official trailer of this device, it uses a cuboid shape and looks more like a PC. It will be on sale during the holiday of 2020.

The Xbox Series X has a rectangular parallelepiped shape, and the top is a central recessed vent hole. The front Xbox Logo key is the power button. The lower left is the optical drive key and the optical drive position while the lower right is a standard USB interface. Microsoft used this console to showcase “Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II”, a new game from Ninja Theory. This is the first exclusive game on the Series X.
