Following various reports of Apple’s Smart Battery Case having issues, the company headquartered in Cupertino has decided to launch a new battery replacement program for some of the models.
Apple’s Smart Battery Case Replacement Program Kicks Off
In particular, the replacement program will include all Smart Battery Case for the iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. All smartphones released in 2018 that are experiencing issues with charging.
There are actually two different issues with the product though. The battery inside the case doesn’t charge properly or it does intermittently. Additionally, even if you manage to charge the case, the device may not be able to charge the iPhone; or once again do it intermittently.
That said, not all products are affected by the problem. According to Apple, only the Smart Case produced between January 2019 and October 2019 are showing issues. The company did also say this is not a safety issue; and Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will replace eligible battery cases, free of charge.
