Two iQOO phones launching in India in mid-February

iQOO Neo 2 Spotted on GeekBench

In a recent interview with TheMobile Indian, Gagan Arora, Director – Marketing of iQOO India has confirmed the launch of two smartphones in the country by the second week of February. He also dropped some information about the features and expected pricing of the devices.

iQOO, the sub-brand of Vivo will be entering the Indian smartphone market next month as an independent brand. The barely-one-year-old brand made its debut in early 2019 in its home country China. Since then, it has launched 6 devices and they are only available in China. But that will change next month as it will hold its first global launch event in India.

Gizchina News of the week

Mr. Arora said that iQOO will be launching two smartphones in India and one of them will be 5G ready, making it the first 5G smartphone in the country. On the other hand, the second phone will only have support for 4G but it will be identical to the former phone in terms of features. Further, he also revealed the 5G smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, which is again first for the Indian market and maybe even globally if it launches before Galaxy S20 series. He also said this phone will be exclusive to India and will come with many industry firsts such as new battery technology.

Anyways, he did not say much about the 4G phone, which we think might be an older phone from last year with Snapdragon 855. As for pricing, the 4G device will be priced aggressively, whereas the 5G phone will have a higher price tag.
