Here is how to open the hidden MIUI 11 menu to see battery charge cycles

MIUI 11

Did you know that there are a series of Xiaomi secret codes that enable you to access hidden menus? If you have a Xiaomi mobile updated to MIUI 11, you can access the secret battery menu of your mobile.

By entering this code we are given access to a screen with information about the battery. Although it may seem irrelevant, it allows us to know important information. We are talking about the battery cycles through which our smartphone from the Chinese company has gone through.

The Xiaomi MIUI 11 code to access the hidden battery menu

The Xiaomi trick to enable this secret menu of MIUI 11 is only valid with this operating system version. But also not with all, but with those versions that are based on Android 10. So if you have MIUI 11, but based on Android 9 Pie, you will not be able to access it.

If you meet this requirement, open the phone app, enter the code *#*#6485#*#* in the dialer and press the call button. A series of data will appear on your screen that detail battery information such as its status, voltage and so on. But the one that interests us is the one identified as MF_02.

Gizchina News of the week

This is the one that indicates the battery cycles of the smartphone. Or, says otherwise, how many times we have put the phone to charge. In this case we have done it 232 times, that is, less than one year.

What is the use of knowing battery cycles?

As simple as knowing how much life your mobile phone has left. As you know, the battery is one of the most degraded elements of your phone since the brands began to make their phones thinner. In addition, few phones allow you to change this component manually. In fact, replacing a phone’s battery is so expensive that it often makes up for buying a new phone.

Battery cycles mark the life of the device because as soon as 500 cycles are exceeded (about a year and a half), the battery loses capacity and effectiveness. And if we start talking about wireless recharging, the issue is complicated because there are already studies that show that these cycles weaken the phone battery even more.

That is bulshit, i have been using my phone since September 2018, but this code shows me that my battery cycle is only 68! , Are you kidding man? Please don’t publish anything without knowing properly.

My Mi Mix 2 runs MIUI 11.0.2 that is based on Android 9, but that code works. The counter is 245, the phone is in use for about 16 to 17 month, so makes sense and looks like I reached half of it’s live span.

As soon as I type that last * the entire string disappears. I cannot enter this code on my 9T Pro.

Mine is 259. And I bought this Mi9 June 2019. If 500 cycles is true I have no less than a year to see this device’s performance crumble?

This data counts “full cycle” and not only “charges”. It means that if you charged twice 50%,it will be counted as 1 cycle.

I'm using Redmi Note 8 pro for about 8 months. And it's still giving me a 7 hours of battery life with daily uses. But a little bit lesser when i use camera heavily… 😒
