Some Gmail users noticed that the link to access Google Meet appeared in the left side panel of the mail service interface. It seems that the new feature has just begun to spread. So at the moment it may not be available to all Gmail users.

If the meeting organizer did not invite you to participate in the conversation directly, you will be moved to the waiting room. To move directly to the conversation you need to get the approval of the meeting organizer. This approach will not allow random and unwanted persons to join the conversation.

It is difficult to say whether Google will be able to compete with services such as Zoom or Teams. But it is obvious that now is the time to work in this direction. There are many people around the world who continue to work remotely. They are using video communication to interact with colleagues. Anyway, if you did not yet receive the new Meet integration with Gmail, just wait for a few more days and it will appears in your Gmail account.
