Huawei introduced the P40 family in March this year. The P40 and P40 pro arrived with EMUI 10 overlay based on Android 10. However, due to the trade ban imposed on Google by the US Trade Commission, the Chinese manufacturer cannot install Google services on its devices. That is why it offers HMS – Huawei Mobile Services. There are alternatives for all Google services, for example. Instead of the Google Play Store we AppGallery. Until now, there was no equivalent to Google Assistant – but now this is changing and with the new overlay update, i.e. EMUI 10.1.0.121 Celia appears.
The new element can be seen by the size of the update – It weights 1.14GB. It includes not only the assistant and camera fixes, but also security patches from April 2020.
You can activate the assistant by saying “Hey Celia” or by holding the power button for a second. What can it do? The same as the equivalent from Google, i.e. helps to schedule tasks, can make calls, save calendar events, play multimedia, etc. Celia is also compatible with HiVision AI Lens. Unfortunately, the assistant does not support all countries and languages – the first phase will arrive at P40 users from Great Britain, France, Spain, Chile, Mexico and Colombia.
It is worth noting that Celia will also appear on other Honor and Huawei smartphones along with EMUI 10.1 updates in the following months of 2020.
