AnTuTu unveils the most powerful Android smartphone processors

AnTuTu benchmarking portal has published a new page on its website to more clearly demonstrate the level of performance of various processors in Android smartphones. We have a rocket that shows a gradation of chip performance. This rating also makes it easy to identify the leaders. Currently, we have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 in the top position. It’s the most powerful Android smartphone Soc.

The distance between the chipsets is the relative difference in performance. Thus, you can clearly see how the Samsung Exynos 990 processor lags behind the Snapdragon 865. While the Kirin 990 5G is not even one of the three leaders. Meanwhile, MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ is approaching its more expensive competitors.

It should be noted that the results on these images are not calculated based on the full AnTuTu rating, which includes the refresh rate of the screen and the speed of the built-in storage (these figures can vary greatly depending on the specific smartphone model even if one chipset is used). The gradation takes into account the points of the tests of the CPU and GPU, which allows us to evaluate the “pure” performance of mobile processors. To get the most accurate results, they took the ratings of all smartphones using this chipset. In addition, Apple chipsets are not available in this rating, although they would have taken first place (especially the version for tablets).

This confirms the previous reports that the Exynos 990 is has a lower performance than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. Samsung has previously responded to that, saying that its Exynos 990 processor is as good as the Snapdragon 865. The company says that the Galaxy S20 series in both processors deliver the same performance level in all real-life scenarios. But it seems that this is not correct.

Samsung is the only company in the smartphone industry that proposes its flagship devices in two processors. The company has a strong R&D and production capabilities for mobile phone processors, but its own Exynos 990 SoC used on the Galaxy S20 is not rated as good as Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 according to benchmark results, tests of users and even reviewers.

Samsung said that both Exynos and Snapdragon processors follow the same demanding standards and test scenarios. In addition, they can provide consistent and optimal performance throughout the smartphone lifecycle. But, this benchmark test shows otherwise.

I think with the Dimensity series, Mediatek will be able to cover a lot of grounds. Exynos needs to step it up a bit as well.

This diagram does not show the position of MediaTek Dimesnity 1000 and Dimensity 1000+. I am sure they are at par with Snapdragon 865.
