We finally have leaked ZenFone 7 images to look at, coming with three cameras

This week has been full of teasers for the Asus ZenFone 7 as the Taiwanese company is set to release its new flagship phones on August 26. Curiously, the company has managed to keep its upcoming flagship a mystery. However, these changes now that live photos surfaced giving us an early look at the flagship. We have to give a rumble of applause to Asus for keeping its smartphone a secret until now. This is not an easy task in this world of leaks. The leaked photos were posted on Weibo earlier today. The leaked image reveals the most intriguing part of this smartphone, the triple-rear camera setup.

A powerful triple-camera setup

Previous reports were suggesting a Quad-Camera array, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for the ZenFone 7. Maybe, this will something left for the rumored Pro variant. For the vanilla variant, Asus is adding an extra camera sensor to the back, however, we still do not have information regarding the type of the lens present in this smartphone. According to a leak from a few days ago, the third sensor is a ToF camera. It has been paired with a 64MP Sony IMX686 main camera and a 12MP Ultrawide Angle Camera. This flipping camera setup effectively makes the ZenFone 7 one of the best possible devices for taking selfies.

Another interesting aspect is that the ZenFone 7 will drop the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner present on its predecessor. The glossy back featuring a glass coating and the vertically aligned Asus logo is present and the back is slightly curved providing a good grip for the hand. While it still should be pretty slippery on surfaces, just live the ZenFone 6. Hopefully, the phone will be available in more colorways.

The leaked images also reveal the retail box. No big surprise here, just a big “7” and the Zenfone 7 words in the bottom part. According to reports, the smartphone will feature an LCD display. It means that we will not have an in-display fingerprint scanner this time around. The biometric sensor probably is fitted under the power button. This is mere speculation at the moment, sense can’t see the usual spot for the side-mounted fingerprint scanner by looking at these shots. We still have a couple of days before the release of the ZenFone 7. Maybe a new set of images will appear now that the leak doors are open.

The new smartphone will pack a Snapdragon 865 chipset, while the Pro variant will boast a Snapdragon 865 Plus. More details should keep pouring out in the coming days.
