Oppo A53 revealed in India with Snapdragon 460, 90Hz HD+ display and 5,000mAh battery

During the last week, Oppo A53 was revealed in Indonesia. Now, it’s time for the Indian market to get this jewel of the mid-range segment. The Oppo A53 packs nice specifications and feels like a Realme smartphone, to be honest. Among the main characteristics, we can cite the brand new Snapdragon 460, a 90Hz display, and a massive 5,000mAh battery with fast-charging.

Oppo A53 specifications

Under the hood, the handset is powered by the Snapdragon 460. This is the highest offering in the Snapdragon 4xx family and comes with 4x Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 1.8GHz plus 4x Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.8GHz.  This chipset is made on the 11nm process which makes it power efficient. the processing powers are paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM depending on the variant. Storage-wise, we have 64GB or 128GB of Internal Storage. The phone comes with a dedicated microSD card slot, something that isn’t very common among Oppo smartphones.

The Oppo A53 flaunts a 6.5-inch LCD display with HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 90Hz. It’s the first time we see a smartphone with this resolution and refresh rate. Maybe, in the future, we’ll see refresh rates becoming more important than an actual resolution. This display features a punch-hole in the upper-left corner that serves as a house for the 16MP selfie shooter.

Software-wise the phone comes with Android 10, which is not a big surprise. Color OS 7.2 runs on top of the smartphone which certainly is a plus. After all, not many devices are running the latest ColorOS version that was introduced with the Reno4 series. The software comes with a feature called RAM+ Anti-Lag. According to Oppo, this feature uses a “PC-grade, cutting-edge technology” and reduces the tag time whenever you open or run an application.

The phone draws power from a massive 5,000mAh battery that charges via a USB-C port with 18W fast-charging support. Another interesting feature is Dirac’s Audio Optimizations for the A53 Stereo Speaker system.
