Huawei HongMeng OS

At the Huawei 2020 Developers Conference on September 10, the Hongmeng OS 2.0 system was officially unveiled. The beta version of the mobile phone will be released in December 2020. Next year, Huawei smartphones will be fully upgraded to support Hongmeng 2.0.

Hongmeng OS 2.0

Wang Chenglu, president of Huawei’s consumer BG software department, recently stated that Huawei plans to provide developers with a beta version of a mobile phone with Hongmeng 2.0 in December this year. Some mobile phone users will be open to upgrading the Hongmeng system in January and February next year. However, the initial upgrade will take a couple of months to get official verification. After that, the large scale release will commence.

According to a Weibo blogger, the Hongmeng OS adaptation process has been leaked. Here is the schedule for the Hongmeng 2.0 update for Huawei phones

  • First batch – Kirin 9000 SoC
  • Second batch – Kirin 990 5G
  • Third batch – Kirin 990 4G (partial)/985/820 (partial)
  • Fourth Batch – Kirin 820 (partial), 980, 990 4G (partial)
  • Fourth and last batch – Kirin 810, 710 (partial)

From the above schedule, it is clear that Huawei will release this update with respect to the chip that the phone use. The flagship chips will be the first to get the update

EMUI 11 CONNECTS SEAMLESSLY WITH HONGMENG OS 2.0

Talking about Hongmeng’s operability with EMUI 11, Wang Chenglu, believes that Huawei’s disconnection from Android will definitely do more good than harm. According to him, Huawei still has a contract with Google, but after both sides fulfill the contract, Hongmeng OS will have more room to play.

“It’s only a matter of time before EMUI 11’s endpoints fully upgrade with Hongmeng OS 2.0. Huawei has already replaced almost everything inside Android. From the bottom layer to the abstraction layer, which even Google didn’t expect. After both parties have fulfilled their contract, I believe that Hongmeng OS 2.0 will bring a different experience to consumers”. According to Mr. Wang, there’s a small goal for Hongmeng OS. The company plans to have hundreds of millions of devices with Hongmeng OS.

Ever since the ban on Huawei by the American government, the Chinese manufacturer sped up the development of its own system. Presently, Huawei’s Hongmeng OS is nowhere near Android or iOS. It will take many years for this system to compete effectively. However, Huawei is optimistic and it continues to develop Hongmeng. Obviously, by next year, we will have a couple of Huawei smartphones running on this system.
