Huawei Mate 40 series is the “number one” among Android phones

Earlier today, a top Huawei executive made a huge claim that some manufacturers may not agree with. According to Bruce Lee, vice president of Huawei’s mobile phone product line, the Huawei Mate 40 series is the “number one” among Android phones. His Weibo post reads “The Mate40 series is also the number one among Android phones. This is a mobile phone that truly supports comprehensive color management“.

Bruce Lee on Huawei Mate 40 series

Bruce Lee pointed out that the Mate 40 Pro supports two different color modes, standard and vivid, in the system settings. The standard mode here is quite different from previous products. With the new standard mode, “the display system performs complete color management”, not that it only supports the sRGB color gamut.

According to reports, the system will automatically identify which standard format the source or app uses. Whether it is sRGB, P3, or HDR (Rec.2020 color gamut), the device will use color gamut mapping and other algorithms to automatically adapt to the screen color gamut.

Bruce Lee also claims that in terms of spectral design, the Mate40 series panel design targets the blue light source to avoid harmful bands. It offers better eye protection. In addition, its current design is a 90nit DC and PWM dimming threshold, and provides a screen anti-flicker switch. This can eliminate flicker within the full brightness range if the switch is active.

When it comes to grading Android smartphones, there are a lot of parameters to consider. In fact, the “number one” Android phone will depend on what the user needs. If a user ranks Android phones with the availability of apps, then the Huawei Mate 40 series can not be “number one”. Obviously, it appears that Bruce Lee is ranking the Mate 40 series as “number one” in terms of color management.
