Xiaomi launched its Redmi Note 9 series that includes Note 9 Pro 5G, Note 9 5G, and Note 9 4G in China. The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 9 5G will be available to buy in China from December 1st, 2020. Along with Redmi Note 9 series, Xiaomi launches a Redmi Watch with the price tag of CNY 299 ($45). Talking about the Redmi Note 9 series, keep in mind that these devices are not to be confused with the Redmi Note 9 that was launched globally earlier in the year.
Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G
It is the High-end smartphone in Redmi Note 9 series. Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G SoC and Adreno 619 GPU. It features a 6.67-inch IPS LCD panel with HDR10 support and the display also has a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone’s display has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. In-camera section, Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G packs a quad-camera setup with a 108MP Samsung HM2 primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth cameras. The camera setup of the smartphone also has a Dual-LED flash and HDR support. For selfies and video chats, there is a 16MP camera on the front side.
In connectivity options Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. Bluetooth 5.1, A2DP, LE, GPS, and USB Type-C 2.0. The smartphone takes its power from a huge 4820 mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. It runs on MIUI 12 based on Android 10 out of the box. Talking about cameras, Redmi Note 9 5G packs a triple camera setup at the back with a 49 MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. For selfies and video chats, there is a 13MP camera on the front side. The phone runs on MIUI 12 based on Android 10 out of the box. Redmi Note 9 5G comes in Gray, Green, Violet color options.

Redmi Watch
Along with the Redmi Note 9 series, Redmi Watch also launched today in China. The main highlight of the smartwatch is its super affordable price tag. The Redmi Watch features a 1.4-inch color display with 130×130 pixel resolution. It has 120+ watch faces to use in the Mi Fit app. The smartwatch pairs Bluetooth 5.0 BLE and also has an NFC. Moreover, the smartwatch is waterproof up to 50m in depth.
Talking about the battery, the company claims that it can last up to 7 days with a single charge and it takes 2 hours to charge fully. The Redmi Watch will be available to buy with a price tag of CNY 299 ($45). The smartwatch will go on sale from December 1st in China.
Will be interesting to know if the NFC support on the watch (and indeed the phone) supports payments in countries other than China – take my home, the UK, for example. Huawei are still struggling to achieve payments. Google and Apple are well established, however.
