Vivo smartphone with “Snapdragon 870” appears on GeekBench

VIVO X60

A new Vivo smartphone with model number “V2045” recently appeared on GeekBench’s database. The interesting part of this smartphone is its benchmark scores. According to the tests, this phone scores 1034 on the single-core test while the multi-core test result is 3513. Interestingly, this phone has cores that are lower than Snapdragon 888 and higher than Snapdragon 865. Could this be the “Snapdragon 870” rumor that we had last year?

Comparing Geekbench scores, the performance of the Snapdragon 865 chip on the OnePlus 8 Pro has 3053 and 876 for its multi and single-core tests respectively. For the Snapdragon 888 using the iQOO 7, its GeekBench score is 3700 and 1136 for its multi and single-core tests respectively. This new Vivo smartphone seems to come with a high-version of Snapdragon 865 or a low-version of Snapdragon 888.

Recall that last year, @DigitalChatStation reported that there will be an overclocking version of Snapdragon 865. According to his report, Qualcomm may call this chip Snapdragon 870. However. there are reports that this chip is more of a watered-down Snapdragon 888 than an upgraded Snapdragon 865. As of now, we can not really say much about the “Snapdragon 870 SoC”. We do not even know if the name is correct. However, we know that there is certainly a chip between Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 888 that is coming soon.

Snapdragon 870 SoC with super-large core up to 3.2GHz

During the development of new processors, there are several intermediary production steps that can qualify as a chip on their own. The chipmaker already has a performance target in mind thus in many cases, these intermediary levels are not considered for mass production. Nevertheless, sometimes, the manufacturer could decide to mass-produce the chip as a lower version of the flagship processor. This appears to be the case with the Snapdragon 888 if the recent reports are anything to go by. @DigitalChatStation reports that there is a Snapdragon 870 SoC with a super-large core up to 3.2GHz. However, just as we will all expect, the performance of this chip is not as good as the Snapdragon 888.

Vivo X60 Pro+ flagship smartphone will be announced on January 21

At the end of last year, Vivo held a presentation of the X60 and X60 Pro smartphones. The devices turned out to be interesting, first of all, in terms of the SoC used. These are the first models on the market based on the 5-nanometer Exynos 1080 chip. Vivo will not be limited to the release of only two devices in the series; Now, the company is preparing for the release of Vivo X60 Pro+.

Even during the presentation of the first Vivo X60 models, the manufacturer confirmed its desire to release the most advanced version of the line in the first month of this year. And now it named the release date of Vivo X60 Pro+ on January 21. But at the same time, the company did not share details about the characteristics of the smartphone.

Looking back at the rumors and leaks that launched earlier, the Vivo X60 Pro+ will be a flagship device and will offer the top-end Snapdragon 888 chip, UFS 3.1, and 55W fast charging.

The main camera of Vivo X60 Pro+ should offer four sensors, where the main one should be a 50-megapixel sensor. Like other devices in the series, the device will receive optics from Zeiss.
