Galaxy A72 4G bags NBTC certification, launch is imminent

Samsung Galaxy A72

Samsung has greatly improved its mid-range smartphones over the past few years. In 2019, the brand decided to revolutionize its mid-range category with a competitive smartphone featuring cutting-edge specifications. That gave birth to the Galaxy A and M-series. Devices under these lineups allowed the brand to return to relevance after losing space for Chinese brands. We’re in 2021, and the brand is starting its second year for the Galaxy A-series. In the coming weeks, Samsung fans will know two of the most anticipated smartphones – The Galaxy A72 and the Galaxy A52.

Last year, the Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71 were the company’s best-selling devices. For that reason, the brand is set to start in 2021 with solid upgrades for these lineups. The duo of smartphones will come in 4G and 5G versions and thanks to a multitude of leaks and certifications we know most of these devices’ specs. Today, the Galaxy A72 5G has passed by Thai NBTC certification and seems to be inching closer to a release.

The Samsung Galaxy A72 4G passed by NBTC with SM-A725F/DS model number. While it does not reveal specifications, it basically confirms the phone’s release in Thailand. Thanks to previous leaks, we already know most of the Galaxy A72 4G specifications.

Gizchina News of the week

Samsung Galaxy A72 4G specifications

The Galaxy A72 4G flaunts a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with FullHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. This display also has a fingerprint reader underneath and a punch-hole in the center. The cutout is home to the 32MP selfie camera. Moving around to the back, the device has a 64MP primary camera joined by a 12MP ultrawide, an 8MP telephoto, and 2MP macro units.

Under the hood, the phone carries the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G. It will be available in variants with 6GB and 8GB of RAM. Storage-wise, it will have 128GB and 256GB respectively. You can expand this amount thanks to microSD card support. While Samsung has ditched this feature on its flagship series, the microSD expansion is safe on the mid-range phones for another year.

The device will run Android 11 straight out of the box. We expect One UI 3.1 to be running on top since it is the latest version available of Samsung’s skin. The Galaxy A72 4G will come with an IP67 rating and will have at least four colorways. Lights will be kept by a 5,000mah battery charged through a USB port. We expect at least 25W fast-charging and the charging brick will be bundled with the device.

According to recent reports, the phone will hit India, and presumably other markets, in mid-March. The 128GB variant may cost around €449 in Europe, whereas the 256GB version will cost around €509.
