Galaxy M42 5G will go official on April 28 with Snapdragon 750G

Samsung is finally making 5G a reality among its mid-range smartphones. After the launch of the Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A72 5G, the company is about to introduce a new cheaper 5G smartphone dubbed Galaxy M42. After leaks teasing the device, Amazon.in confirmed that the new smartphone will be introduced on April 28th and has set up a promo page on its website for the new 5G contender. The new listing shares some fresh details about the smartphone.

Galaxy M42 5G alleged specifications

One of the interesting details revealed by the new info is that the Galaxy M42 5G probably is coming with an AMOLED panel. The fact is that the device lacks any sort of visible fingerprint scanner. It’s not present on the rear panel and neither is it in the power menu. So, we assume that the company is bringing an in-display solution this time around. After all, we don’t expect a 5G smartphone to lack a fingerprint scanner. So the AMOLED display is likely confirmed.

Now, the question is whether it will come with a 60Hz or 90Hz refresh rate. AMOLED displays with high refresh rates are more expensive than common LCDs. However, Samsung managed to bring it with the Galaxy A52. Still, we don’t know if the M42 will get the same treatment as it is a cheaper smartphone. Curiously the phone has a notched display, which is a bit unusual in this wave of punch-hole Samsung smartphones.

Galaxy M42 5G

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy M42 5G will pack a Snapdragon 750G SoC. The RAM and Storage amount aren’t revealed, but we can expect it to start with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of Internal Storage since this is a standard for mid-rangers. Of course,  the device will also pack a microSD card slot for further storage expansion.

The handset has a Quad-Camera setup on its back. According to rumors, the main sensor is a 64MP unit, the other three sensors probably are an ultrawide cam, a macro unit, and a depth-sensing module. The handset will come with One UI 3.1 based on Android 11 straight out of the box. Moreover, it will draw its powers from a huge 6,000mAh battery, hopefully with some sort of fast-charging tech. The device will also come with NFC as Amazon.in is teasing it as a device ready for Samsung Pay.

The device may cost between INR 20,000 and INR 25,000 ($270-335).

The official announcement will happen in ten days. We assume that more details will keep coming until the unveiling.
