All we are eagerly waiting for July 29, when Huawei will introduce its new flagship smartphone series – the Huawei P50. Though it won’t bring a performance differing from the current models, this phone is going to get back its title of the best camera phone. Well, it’s one thing to announce a smartphone, and quite another to start selling it. In this regard, a Weibo blogger proves that the upcoming P50 models will go on sale in mid-August. Not surprisingly, all models, including the 5G variants, will appear on the shelves simultaneously.
Huawei P50 Hardware
Anyway, we know that the Huawei P50 series will have 3 models, namely the Huawei P50, the Huawei P50 Pro and the Huawei P50 Pro+. They will be the first phones coming with HarmonyOS 2 system out of the box. But when it comes to hardware, they will differ a lot. The high-end P50 Pro will sport Huawei’s own Kirin 9000 series chips. But the P50 standard version will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The latter will support only 4G networks. Currently, only 4G series chips of Qualcomm have obtained a supply license from the United States.
It is worth mentioning that when Yu Chengdong was talking about Huawei’s P50 series mobile phones, he said that “we surpass ourselves in the field of imaging.” The Huawei P50 series will soon release an industry-first brand-new mobile imaging technology.
In this regard, today, the company released a new promo video, showing that the P50 phones will have excellent zoom capabilities. In the P40 Pro+, Huawei brought binocular zoom gameplay. Its two telephoto sensors could achieve a 3x optical zoom, a 10x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. So we guess the Huawei P50 will improve this functionality further.

Well, the forthcoming Huawei P50 models will have many design elements identical to the Honor 50 released last month. It has a dual-ring multi-camera module on the rear. The two high-end models will come with an f/1.8 IMX707 main camera.
Yesterday, we got some worthy information concerning this camera. It said that the Huawei P50 Pro come with a VARIO-SUMMILUX-H1:1.8-3.4/18-125ASPH sensor (ASPH refers to the use of aspherical lenses). Our protagonist will also use a 5x telephoto lens as well as an 18mm ultra-wide-angle sensor. The aperture of the sensor is f/1.8-3.4 while the focal length is 18-125mm. But this sensor will be available only on the Pro variants, while the standard version will probably use a 13mm ultra-wide-angle and a 3.5x telephoto lens.
