Vivo X70 series will have proprietary image signal processor

Vivo unveiled its flagship Vivo X60 series in the end of 2020 featuring Exynos 1080 chips and an impressive camera setup as well as a new generation of its gimbal-like image stabilization system. Now, almost eight months later, the company is preparing to reveal a new flagship series under the Vivo X70 branding. This makes perfect sense as the company launched both the Vivo X50 and X60 series in 2020. The Vivo X series is well known for advanced camera capabilities and we expect to see the company raising the bar with the next-gen models. The Vivo X60 smartphones were the first to come under a partnership with Zeiss. We are curious to see what the Vivo X70 series will achieve in terms of camera performance.

Vivo X70 to come with original Image Signal Processor and new stabilization system

Today, the Weibo user that goes by “Panda is Bald”, revealed that the Vivo X70 series will come with a self-developed image signal processor. The ISP will be soldered onto the board as a separate chip. Together, the company will provide a new imaging algorithm, the Vivo X70 series that will allow the company to provide better photos. Interestingly, the company has been keeping the development of its own ISP secret until now. It’s not a big surprise to see an ISP coming from Vivo. After all, the company has been developing and researching innovative ideas for the camera department for quite some time now.

The source also mentions a micro pan-tilt feature and a telescopic lens for the Vivo X70 series. Another leak suggests that the main camera of the Vivo X70 will come with an impressive aperture of f/1.5. Moreover, the device will have a 5-axis image stabilization system. Of course, Vivo will present new technology or a new generation of its impressive image stabilization system. The new devices will exceed the Vivo X60 series in all camera departments.

In terms of performance, we don’t know what will be inside the Vivo X70 series. We can expect a Vivo X70 Pro+ to come with Snapdragon 888, or even with the newer Snapdragon 888 Plus. The company also used the Snapdragon 870 before which makes it a valid candidate for the Vivo X70 Pro. We can even expect the Dimensity 1200 SoC to make an appearance here, maybe in the vanilla X70. Of course, this is mere speculation on our part right now. Originally, the Vivo X60 series came with Exynos 1080 SoCs. However, the global variants ditched Samsung’s chips for Qualcomm Snapdragon alternatives. At this point, we should wait for further info about the smartphones.
