Realme GT 5G goes on sale in India today

After many months of waiting, Realme fans in India can finally purchase a Realme GT 5G. For those unaware, this device arrived as the company’s first flagship of 2021 and also introduce a whole new GT series of smartphones. The original smartphone was released in March this year and China and was launched in global markets a couple of months ago. Back in the last week, Realme unveiled the new smartphone alongside the Realme Book series in India. Today, the device is finally available for purchase through Realme’s official website, Flipkart, and mainline channels.

Indian customers can get the Relame GT 5G in two memory combos. Th 8 GB of RAM with 128 GB of Internal Storage options comes at a price tag of INR37,999 ($510/€435). The high-tier 12 GB of RAM option with 256 GB of Internal Storage set you back by at INR41,999 ($565/€480). The former comes in Dashing Blue and Dashing Silver colorways. However, the latter only comes in Racing Yellow. Unfortunately, this colorway is a missed opportunity for a Bumblebee color. Anyway, it brings a dual-tone finish with a faux leather design.

The Realme GT 5G flaunts a 6.47-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an FHD+ resolution (2,400 x 1,080 pixels). The panel supports HDR10+ and has a top-left-aligned punch hole comprising a 16MP selfie shooter. Moving around to the back, it brings a Triple-Camera setup. The rectangular island comprises a 64MP primary shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2MP macro shooter.

Under the hood, the smartphone boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM or 12GB of RAM. These variants are combined with 128GB and 256GB of storage respectively. Unlike other Realme phones, you can’t expand the storage of this beast. Other notable features include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, 3.5mm headphone jack, in-display fingerprint scanner, and stereo speakers

The device draws power from a 4,500mAh battery complete with 65W fast-charging support. On the software front, it runs Android 11 with Realme UI 2.0 running on top. Once Android 12 comes it will also be one of the first Realme smartphones to get the new Realme UI 3.0.
