iPhone 14 series will switch to QLC flash memory up to 2TB

iPhone 14

The iPhone 13 series has been on the market for just a few days but it appears that all attention is already on its predecessor. A few weeks before the official launch of the iPhone 13 series, we started getting reports regarding the iPhone 14 series. One of the earliest reports claims that the iPhone 14 series will adopt the punch-hole display. This will be the first time that the iPhone will not use a notch design since the iPhone X. The latest report regarding the iPhone 14 series claims that it will have a maximum storage capacity of 2TB. Furthermore, this new series will ditch the TLC flash memory on the iPhone 13 series for a new QLC flash memory.

This year’s iPhone 13 series upgrades from 512GB to a maximum of 1TB. The disassembly of the iPhone 13 series shows that flash memory is still TLC flash memory. However, the supplier is Kioxia, not Samsung. According to reports, Kioxia’s offer is cheaper than Samsung’s.

However, next year’s iPhone 14 series will continue to increase the storage capacity of the iPhone. Some partners are already testing new components for the iPhone 14 series. However, there are concerns regarding the rumors of Apple ditching TLC for QLC. This is because QLC’s performance and reliability are not as good as TLC flash memory.

The report shows that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro will use a 6.06-inch screen. However, the iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max will come with a larger 6.68 inches display. In addition, the two basic versions of iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will use LTPS displays. However, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will come with LTPO screens. From this point of view, it appears that the iPhone 14 Max has a lower positioning than the iPhone 14 Pro.

In terms of core configuration, the iPhone 14 series will come with a new Bionic A16 processor. This chip is built with a 4nm manufacturing process. Except for the basic version of the iPhone 14 which still uses a dual rear camera setup, the other three models all come with a triple rear camera setup. At the same time, the main camera of the two high-profile models will be upgraded. We expect a 1/1.3-inch 48MP sensor, and there are reports that the new 48MP camera may be used for an ultra-wide lens.
