WhatsApp may be working on a new version of the application for computers. We know that many people already use the app on the PC, but it is an adaptation of WhatsApp Web. Now, Meta’s messenger should reach Windows and Mac with a new interface bringing exclusive features.
A new WhatsApp application is coming for Windows
The information and the first records of the new software came from the profile @ALumia_Italia. For Windows, the new WhatsApp app leverages the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) to deliver a more integrated user experience. In addition to the PC, users will be able to install the app even on Xbox.
Being UWP based, the interface looks native to Windows. You can also see inspiration from Skype. Contacts are located on the left side, while the chat is in the center. At the top, there is a gear that groups these menus: general, account, chats, notifications, storage and help. Even closed, the app continues to display notifications.
In the image, we can also see that there will be a unique drawing resource to be done and sent by the application itself. In that case, it may work better on Windows devices with a touch screen.
Another good news is that the new feature already supports multiple devices. With this, just as Telegram already does, the new application will not depend on the smartphone to work.
Meta is also beckoning to Mac owners. According to WABetainfo, a portal famous for revealing the main news of the messenger, the macOS version is on its way. This should happen after the launch of the iPad-only app.
There is still no date for WhatsApp to launch the apps.
WhatsApp will allow you to hide the time of the last activity from individual contacts
The WhatsApp development team is testing another update to their software product, which will make the messenger ecosystem a little safer for potential victims of persecution.
According to the latest data, in beta version 220.127.116.11, available to a limited circle of testers, an option has appeared that allows you to hide the time of the last appearance in the application from specific users.
In the current stable version, the user has only three options for “visibility” – the time of the last use of the application can be seen by “everyone”, “my contacts” or “nobody”. The new option allows you to preserve the visibility of this data for friends, family and other users, with the exception of individuals who should not see the relevant information.
Many other instant messengers have already solved a similar problem a long time ago. For example, in Telegram, you can not only make the time of the last stay in the messenger completely accessible or inaccessible to everyone, but also add exceptions in both cases. In addition, exceptions can be added if only contacts can see the visit time. Exceptions can be added if you want to leave your colleagues, overly caring parents, or other people who, for one reason or another, control the use of your account in the dark.
The function is not yet available to most users. To use it, you need to download the beta version of the messenger. Usually it can be downloaded from the Google Play store; but while there seems to be enough participants in the testing program; it remains possible to find the APK file on the Internet at your own risk.
