Alleged Vivo Y15 (2021) smartphone emerges on TENAA

Vivo Y15

Unlike the last year, it does not seem that Vivo will be bringing another flagship series for the end of 2021. The company launched the Vivo X70 series a couple of months back and given the timing, we don’t think that the X80 series will make it before the end of the year like the X60 series did last year like a “last-minute” launch. Despite the lack of new flagships, the company may introduce new mid-range smartphones until the end of the year. The company seems to be preparing on a refresh for the Vivo Y15 from 2019.

A new Vivo smartphone with model number V2140A appeared on Chinese certification agency TENAA’s website. The device is an entry-level handset with LTE connectivity and basic features. We assume that the device will come at a very affordable price and is tipped to come with a Vivo Y15 moniker.

As per the original report, the device’s specs are on par with the Vivo Y15a and Vivo Y15s. Until the moment, the company didn’t unveil a vanilla variant, then it may finally come as Vivo Y15. The two phones also share the body of the smartphone. This could be a 2021 edition as there is a Vivo Y15 already from 2019.

Vivo Y15 specifications

TENAA certification has been kind enough to provide most of the device’s specifications. As per the listing, it will come with a 6.51-inch AMOLED screen with an HD+ resolution of 1,600 x 720 pixels. The AMOLED is a big upgrade over the LCD on older devices. However, we are sure that this is a 60 Hz panel.

Under the hood, the device has an Octa-Core CPU. It is listed with four units at 2.3 GHz, and the other four at 1.8 GHz. The chipset is either the Helio G35 or even the older Helio P35 SoC. Both bring the older ARM Cortex-A53 cores, but the G35 has a more efficient 12 nm architecture, which is still not efficient as current chips.

The images also show two cameras at the back which further affirms Vivo’s growth strategy of just two cameras for its smartphones. This time we have just a main 13 MP snapper and a 2 MP module. The secondary module is either for depth or portrait use. There is a selfie camera with 8 MP resolution.

The device has 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB of Internal Storage or 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of Internal Storage. The device draws its powers from a 4,910 mAh minimal battery.
