The hand-feel of both smartphones is almost the same because their dimensions are similar. The Xiaomi Mi 6 is 145.2 mm long, 70.5 mm wide, 7.5 mm thick, and weighs 168 g. It is important to note that the ceramic model of the Xiaomi Mi 6 weighs 182 g. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 12 is 152.7 mm long, 69.9 mm wide, 8.2 mm thick, and weighs 179 g. From the dimensions, we can see that the Xiaomi 12 is less than 1cm longer than the Xiaomi Mi 6. Their widths are basically the same as the Xiaomi 12 is o.1 mm shorter. In addition, the Xiaomi 12 is just 0.7 mm thicker than the Xiaomi Mi 6. As for the weight, the new flagship smartphone is about 14 g heavier.
We can understand the insignificant increase in length, thickness, and weight of the 2021 flagship relative to the Mi 6. This is because the new Xiaomi flagship uses a bigger 4500 mAh battery while the Mi 6 comes with a 3350 mAh battery.

Lei Jun stated that it is very difficult to make a small-sized high-end flagship. This is because it is difficult to pack so many flagship functions into a small-sized body. Now, few manufacturers make small-screen flagship phones. Many small-screen smartphones generally abandon flagship functions such as fast charging, camera, stereo, and wireless charging. This is the reason why small-screen mobile phones are often “not popular”.
Lei Jun firmly believes that the Xiaomi 12 small size is just what users want. Lei Jun also said that the Xiaomi 12 series is officially benchmarked against Apple. The Xiaomi 12 has an 8% larger screen, reaching 6.28 inches. The size is smaller than that of the iPhone 13, and it has a better grip. Many users can hold it with one hand.
