Samsung will release the Galaxy S22 series on February 9. This series has three high-end flagships including the Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra. As a popular high-end flagship series, the major specs of this series are already public before the official launch date. Let us take a look at the comparison between these three smartphones

Samsung Galaxy S22 series smartphones

Samsung Galaxy S22: “Compact” high-end smartphone

The Samsung Galaxy S22 5G is a new compact entry into the S-series smartphone family. It comes with a compact 6.1-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. This display also boasts a maximum brightness of 1500 nits. The touchscreen has the protection of the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Under the hood, we have either the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 or Exynos 2200 SoC depending on the region. Both processors are octa-core 4nm flagship chips.

This device also comes with AMD RDNA 2 graphics, 8 GB RAM, and either 128 GB or 256 GB flash memory. The wireless connections include Wi-Fi 6 (WLAN-ax), Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and 5G. The new Samsung Galaxy S22 comes with a triple rear camera. Specifically, it has a 50-megapixel sensor (wide-angle), 12-megapixel sensor ultra-wide-angle camera, and 10-megapixel telephoto photos with an optical zoom of up to 3x. A 10-megapixel sensor is used in the punch hole at the front. Other key data include a 3700 mAh battery that can be charged via USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 or wirelessly. In addition, this device comes with an on-screen ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The Samsung Galaxy S22 weighs just 167 grams and supports IP68 water and is dustproof. It will be available in black, white, green, and pink gold colour options. All models of the S22 series will come with Samsung One UI 4.1 on top of Android 12. The price of this device in Germany is 849 euros for the 128 GB model and 899 euros for the 256 GB model.

Samsung Galaxy S22+

With the Samsung Galaxy S22+ 5G, Samsung offers another model that differs from the Galaxy S22 primarily in terms of its size. The “Dynamic AMOLED 2X” display grows to 6.6 inches but it has the same resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. However, the maximum brightness of the touchscreen increases to 1750 nits. The processor, RAM, and storage options are the same as the Galaxy S22 above. Furthermore, the camera specification of this smartphone is also the same as the Galaxy S22 above.

This smartphone also comes with Wi-Fi 6 (WLAN-ax), Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and 5G. It supports IP68 water and dustproof just like the S22. The Samsung Galaxy S22+ is available in black, white, green, and pink gold colours. The price of this device is 1049 euros for the 128 GB model and 1099 euros for the 256 GB model.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: With S-Pen and a 6.8 inches display

The new Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra stands out from its smaller siblings with a slightly more angular Infinity-O Edge design that is also curved towards the long sides. The top model of the upcoming series uses a 6.8-inch OLED display with a resolution of 3080 x 1440 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. It also uses a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, and its maximum brightness is 1750 nits.

As usual, this smartphone has both the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 and Exynos 2200 versions. The Ultra model comes with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB of internal storage. This smartphone comes with a quad rear camera system and supports an S-Pen. Specifically, it uses a 108-megapixels wide-angle sensor, 12-megapixels ultra-wide-angle camera, and two 10-megapixel lenses for telephoto photos. The datasheet specifies both a 3x and 10x optical zoom. The single-camera on the front is a 40-megapixels shooter.
