Apple WWDC 2022 developer conference will be held from June 6 to 10

Apple WWDC 2022

This year again, Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be held online only, from June 6-10. However, Apple will organize a private session reserved for a few people.

Apple has finally announced the dates for its WWDC 2022 annual conference. It will take place over 4 days from June 6-10, 2022, almost the same dates as last year’s conference which took place from June 7-11 June 2021. The American company will hold a kick-off event on the first day of the conference. This will be an opportunity for Apple to unveil new operating systems for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Mac, but also other products.

This is the third year in a row that Apple has opted for an exclusively online event. However, as leaker Jon Prosser told us, the company will be holding a small physical event with a select committee made up of a few student developers.

During its conference, Apple will unveil new versions of its iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS9, tvOS 16 and macOS 13 operating systems. The company will also hint at new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models with an MC chip; though their release could be pushed back to late 2022 after the iPhone 14 event.

Apple could also take advantage of its conference to unveil its new powerful Mac Pro computer, which it teased at the end of the spring conference devoted to the Mac Studio. It is not impossible that the American giant uses two M1 Ultra chips in its computer; which would make it the most powerful device in its category.

The other three days should be more dedicated to developers. Apple intends to give them “access to Apple engineers and technologies; to learn how to create revolutionary applications and interactive experiences”. There is hope that Apple will discuss its plans for a mixed reality headset; which would combine virtual reality and augmented reality technologies. We will net get the price, but Apple could simply confirm that it is working on such a project.

Apple is also developing its own payment processing technology, as well as the infrastructure that will help it continue to offer new financial products to customers – the company is going to reduce dependence on partners in this sector and rely mainly on its own strength. Some say that the company is becoming a bank or something.

Apple’s new efforts to fully enter the financial market were reported by Bloomberg, citing its own anonymous sources. The long-term, multi-year project has been codenamed Breakout, which may indicate the intention of the electronics giant to become independent. The information, which for obvious reasons has not received official confirmation; has already caused the shares of two of the company’s key partners – CoreCard and Green Dot – to fall by 8%. Even such a monster as Goldman Sachs got it, whose shares sank by 1.2%.
