Oppo A57 5G launched with Dimensity 810 and 5000mAh battery

Oppo A57 5G

Oppo may be busy with the preparations for the upcoming Oppo Reno 8 series. Meanwhile, it also needs to take care of the OnePlus upcoming launch, as both companies are basically the same right now. However, the company still found some time to unveil a new budget device for its Oppo A-series. Today, the company has presented the Oppo A57 5G which brings compelling specs for an affordable price. It has a budget of 5G SoC but at least is more 2022 ready than other devices shipping with older chipsets.

Oppo A57 5G specifications

The Oppo A57 5G brings the MediaTek Dimensity 810, which stands as a replacement for the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. It boasts higher clock speeds and a more efficient 6 nm architecture. The phone is paired with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of the base variant. However, there is also an option with 8 GB of RAM. It’s interesting to see Oppo giving high RAM offerings when many companies are still sticking with 4 GB of RAM for base models. Anyway, the 6 GB RAM variant has a faster UFS 2.2 storage. To bring 8 GB of RAM, the company cut the corners of storage with a UFS 2.1 standard. If you need more storage, you can also put a micro SD card.

The phone flaunts a 6.56-inch LCD with a waterdrop notch. The screen is HD+ with just 1,612 x 720 pixels of resolution. The good part is that the panel refreshes at 90 Hz. That may not sound like a big deal in 2022, but there are still phones launching with 60 Hz panels, especially in the budget segment. The display also offers a wide color gamut with around 100 percent sRGB coverage in Natural mode and 100% DCI-P3 in Vivid mode. The brightness is unchanged at 480 nits of typical brightness.

In terms of optics, not much has changed in the handset. The Oppo A57 5G offers a simple camera setup with a 13 MP main camera on the back with an f/2.2 aperture. There is also a 2 MP depth sensor to aid in portrait shots. The notch serves as a home for the 8 MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The video recording is capped at 1080p at 30 fps.

The Oppo A57 5G runs Android 12 OS straight out of the box, another big highlight. It draws its powers from a 5,000 mAh battery. However, the charging is capped at 10 W which is way below the usual nowadays. The phone has stereo speakers, USB Type-C, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Pricing and Availability

The phone is available for pre-order in China. The variant with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of Internal Storage costs CNY 1,500 which is just around $235.
