Oppo will premiere the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor

Popular Weibo tech blogger, @DCS, revealed that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series chip is about to enter mass production. The first chip in this series will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. This processor will go commercial later this year. Furthermore, the report reveals that the first smartphone to use this chip will be Oppo Reno 8. This means that Oppo will have the honour of premiering this processor. One of the highlights of this smartphone is that it will be the world’s first Snapdragon 7 Gen1 model.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1

According to reports, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 consists of 4 large Cortex A710 cores and 4 small Cortex A510 cores. The large core Cortex A710 and the small core Cortex A510 are both used by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. However, due to the mid-range positioning, the Cortex A710 frequency of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 may be lower.

Compared with the Cortex-A78, the width of the Cortex-A710 branch unit is reduced from 6 to 5, which improves energy efficiency. In terms of scheduling, a pipeline stage is deleted, which improves the efficiency of scheduling. To sum up, Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is Qualcomm’s most powerful Snapdragon 7 series chip at present. This chip is even better than Snapdragon 778G.
