One of the first smart speakers around the globe came our way from Amazon. The latter launched the Alexa-enabled speaker to help its customers ease the purchasing process. But later, people began using these products for various purposes, mainly for fun. Anyway, currently, there are myriads of manufacturers that design and produce smart speaker products. According to the latest report released by Strategy Analytics, Apple has no equals on the market.
Interestingly, in the first quarter of 2022, the total sales of different Amazon and Google smart speakers exceeded the Apple HomePod mini figures. But the Apple representative grew 29% year on year and became the best-selling smart speaker on the Earth.

Thanks to the HomePod mini, Apple doubled its share of the smart speaker market in 2021. Now, the Strategy Analytics report shows that Apple’s only smart speaker will continue to sell well even in 2022.
Smart Speaker Market In Q1 2022
As for specific numbers, the Cupertino-based company has managed to ship nearly 4.5 million HomePod mini smart speaker products in the first quarter of this year; the Google Nest Hub and Amazon Echo Show 8 came in second and third, respectively. Unfortunately, Strategy Analytics did not provide sales figures for the other models.

Anyway, from the data table above, we can see that Amazon sold 9.9 million smart speakers. The second-generation Echo Show 5 topped the list with 1.6 million units. Google came in second with total sales of 6.1 million units, with Nest Hub sales topping the list.
Sales of Apple smart speakers have also grown significantly compared to the same period last year. For instance, the HomePod mini grew 29.9%, with Google up 6.6% and Amazon only up 1.5% year over year.
What’s more interesting, Strategy Analytics expects that the HomePod mini will grow significantly in 2023 as Apple exhausts the opportunity to sell HomePod to its iPhone customer base. You should also take into consideration that Apple grew nearly 30% in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the first quarter of 2021, the last quarter in which the original HomePod was released. When it was out, there were two color options available to choose from – Space Gray and White. Later, the company also added three new colors – Orange, Blue, and Yellow. The smart speaker retails for $99. It is available in select markets. But more regions will be added to the list soon.
