Tecno Spark 9T launched with Helio G37 and huge battery

Tecno

Tecno is constantly trying to improve its presence across global markets. Today, the second strong arm under Transsion Holdings is launching a new budget smartphone in Nigeria. The African continent has been a key market for Tecno, Infinix, and Itel in recent years. The new device dubbed Tecno Spark 9T comes to keep the brand’s name in the local headlines. It’s a decent smartphone for those who need a device that gets the job done, but that won’t mind a performance that is not adequate for gaming and heavy tasks.

Tecno Spark 9T specifications

The Tecno Spark 9T comes with a 6.6-inch IPS LCD screen with an HD+ resolution of around 1,600 x 720 pixels. The panel also has a 90 Hz refresh rate which is very good news as some budget smartphones still omit this specification. The panel brings the low-end DNA with a waterdrop notch at the top. It serves as a home for a 32 MP selfie snapper. However, we’re pretty sure these 32 MP shots come through software interpolation. After all, the main camera setup is lower than the selfie shooter. It has a 13 MP main camera that sits alongside a 2 MP depth module and an AI lens.

Under the hood, the Tecno Spark 9T packs the MediaTek Helio G37 SoC. This particular chipset stands as a tweaked Helio G35 offering support for displays with a 90 Hz refresh rate. Apart from that, it’s a low-end chipset with eight ARM Cortex-A53 cores. It boasts a 2.3 GHz clock speed and 12 nm architecture. The phone is paired with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of Internal Storage that can be expanded via a micro SD card. The phone draws power from a 5,000 mAh battery with 10 W charging. The device runs Android 12 with Tecno’s HiOS 8.6 on top. That’s a good surprise to see Android 12, after all, Tecno and Infinix have been struggling in this aspect.

Pricing info

The phone will sell in Atlantic Blue, Turquoise Cyan, Iris Purple, and Cocoa Gold colorways. The pricing in Nigeria starts at NGN 78,300 ($188) in the 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB storage trim. There is a higher model with 128 GBN storage that costs NGN 88,000 ($212). We don’t know if this device will hit global markets, meanwhile, the brand seems to be busy with the Camon series.  The brand is also preparing for the launch of the Pova 3 in India.
