A representative of Apple said that Samsung has just increased the screen size of the iPhone after copying it.

The Wall Street Journal released a documentary about the history of the iPhone, which is now 15 years old. Interviews with iPhone co-creator Tony Fadell, Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak, and iPhone customers are featured in the movie.

In one of the interview snippets, there claims that Android devices had big displays years before the iPhone. Joswiak said that they were “annoying” and accused them of poor imitations of Apple technology when asked what impact Samsung and other Android smartphone manufacturers had at the time on Apple.

“They were annoying,” said Joswiak. “And they were annoying because, as you know, they ripped off our technology. They took the innovations that we had created and created a poor copy of it, and just put a bigger screen around it. So, yeah, we were none too pleased.”

Early in 2013, Samsung debuted the Galaxy S4 with a 5-inch screen, whereas the iPhone 5 featured a 4-inch screen. The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus, the first bigger smartphones made by Apple, were in high demand and among of the best-selling iPhones of all time when they were available in 2014.

Apple claimed that Samsung duplicated the design of the iPhone in its own series of Galaxy smartphones in a patent infringement lawsuit against Samsung in 2011. A second retrial resulted in a lower damage award for Apple than the initial $1 billion figure.

Steve Jobs unveiled the original iPhone on January 9, 2007, and it became available for purchase on June 29, 2007. Jobs remarked at the time, “iPod, phone, mobile internet communicator…these are not three separate devices. This is one device”, “Apple is going to reimagine the phone today”.

The iPhone has revolutionized both the world and the mobile technology sector since its release. Apple stated that it has sold over 1 million handsets just 74 days after its introduction. The price of the device at the time was $500.
