ASUS discloses its Android 13 update roadmap

ZenFone 9

ASUS probably isn’t the noisiest company in the smartphone market nowadays. But in case you’ve forgotten, the brand is still around with yearly flagship releases. This year, the company introduced the ZenFone 9 in the flagship market with compelling specifications. Just like the recent releases, the devices boast a nearly-stock Android firmware. For that reason, it’s among the first devices to get the latest Android 13. The flagship is very close to a stable Android 13 update. ASUS celebrates the achievement of disclosing the roadmap for the Android 13 update, which will cover more phones.

ASUS ZenFone and ROG Phone series – Android 13 is coming

The list, unfortunately, is short. ASUS is promising only two major updates for its smartphones and some already reached their quota. The two major Android updates have been a tradition for several brands, but companies like Samsung and Xiaomi are now promising up to four major Android updates. Unfortunately, Asus didn’t follow this trend, not even with the ZenFone 9. The list brings the Zenfone series and also discloses details of the ROG Phones that will get the update.

The ASUS ZenFone 9 will get the update in December. The last year’s ASUS ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip will get the update in January. In case you’re wondering, yes, the ASUS ZenFone 7 and 7 Pro are out of this rollout. They arrived with Android 10 and got up to Android 12.

Going over to the ROG phone series, the first in line is the ROG Phone 6D / 6D Ultimate. The phone arrived recently with the Dimensity 9000+ series and will get the update first. After that, the next in line is the ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. They can expect Android 13 in the first three months of 2023. The ROG Phone 5 and 5S series, on the other hand, will get the update by Q2 2023. Worth noting, that the ROG Phone 5 and 5S will reach the end of support with this update. As you already noticed, the ROG Phone 3 series is out of this update.
