POCO X5 and POCO X5 Pro had their specs revealed

POCO X5 5G

Since its return in 2020, the POCO X-series is one of the most exciting for POCO enthusiasts. That lineup brought interesting devices like the POCO X3 and POCO X3 Pro. Both devices brought good specifications for a lot less than conventional flagships. The POCO X3 NFC was quite important in 2020. After all, the device brought a 120 Hz display, a huge battery with fast charging, a 64 MP camera, and a decent processor when most of the mid-ranges were lagging behind. The POCO X3 Pro was a big step forward with the Snapdragon 860. That processor was based on the SD855+ and brought flagship performance at the price of a mid-range phone. Unfortunately, the brand decided to step back with the X4 Pro 5G bringing a mid-range Snapdragon 695. Similarly, the POCO X5 and POCO X5 Pro will remain in the mid-range segment.

According to new leaks, POCO is moving on to introduce the POCO X5 series in the first weeks of 2023. Those waiting for something at the flagship level like the POCO X3 Pro will be disappointed. The phone will remain a mid-range but brings 5G like the last year’s generation. The brand is preparing the POCO X5 5G and POCO X5 Pro, and thanks to the leakster Kacper Skrzypek we know some of the specifications for these devices. In fact, as usual for POCO, they will be based on existing Redmi phones.

POCO X5 and POCO X5 Pro specifications

As per the tipster, the POCO X5 5G carries a Moonstone codename and will bring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695. That is the same processor used on the POCO X4 Pro 5G, POCO will bring it back with the vanilla, presumably at a lower price tag. Moreover, the recently-released Redmi Note 12 Speed Edition, will reach global markets as the POCO X5 Pro. The phone boasts Snapdragon 778G and will be a decent upgrade over the Snapdragon 695. We would prefer the Snapdragon 870, despite its aging status, but it seems that it’s no longer possible to bring something close to what the POCO X3 Pro was in 2021.

POCO X5 Pro 5G

The POCO X5 will be a rebranded Redmi Note 12 5G variant with the Snapdragon 695. The phones will also bear a different design, with the traditional POCO Yellow color marking a presence here. Both phones will bring AMOLED Displays. The POCO X5 Pro will get a 108 MP main camera, and a 5000 mAh battery with 67W fast charging. The tipster also states that the POCO F5 Pro will be based on the Redmi K60 that boasts the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

The beginning of 2023 will be quite exciting for POCO fans. Rumors point to a launch in January, along with the POCO C50.
