POCO X5 5G and POCO C50 to come in January

Nowadays, POCO is pretty much a “brand of rebrands”. The company returned after a long hiatus to launch a couple of original devices and a lot of rebrands. However, the strategy seems to be paying off as the brand keeps a good pace with these releases. Moreover, there are a couple of Redmi phones that hit global markets as POCO devices, making them unique for the global audience. Now, POCO is preparing new handsets for the 2023 season. These include the highly-anticipated POCO X5 and the POCO C50.

To recall, POCO teased the launch of the POCO C50 in India in November. However, something went wrong with the company’s plans and the device’s release was delayed. Now, a new report suggests the phone will launch in the first week of January, most precisely on January 3. Besides the POCO C50, we now also have consistent proof of the POCO X5 5G arrival.

The brand teases the C50 as a “Budget Disrupter” and an “Overall Package”. It will also bring a decent camera (the brand calls it “stellar), and an immersive multimedia experience with “long battery life, and sleek design”. From these teasers, we can draw a clear picture of the phone. We expect something with a large display, but not bulky. Moreover, there might be a good primary camera, and a huge battery, maybe with the series’ signature 6,000 mAh capacity. As for the POCO X5, it may be a rebranded Redmi Note 12 series phone.

Gizchina News of the week

The POCO X5 5G has been certified by BIS, IMDA, and FCC. Now, the phone passed the NBTC’s certification. Considering these entities, it’s pretty much natural to expect a global release for the phone. As per the NBTC, the phone bears the 22111317PG model number.

POCO X5 5G alleged specifications

Right now, there is not much to write about the POCO X5 in terms of specifications. However, we can imagine it is a rebranded Redmi phone with a few changes in design. Yesterday, Redmi presented the Redmi Note 12 Speed Edition with the Snapdragon 778G, and a 108MP camera. This new variant could be the perfect candidate to go through a rebranding treatment. If that is the case, it will also get an AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, stereo speakers, a 3.5mm audio jack, NFC, and a 5,000mAh battery with 67W charging. The POCO X5 was also rumored to come with MIUI 14 straight out of the box. Guess what? The Redmi Note 12 Speed Edition is the only one in the family to launch with Android 13 and MIUI 14.

For now, there is no official word or teaser regarding the launch of the POCO X5 5G. Anyway, the phone may take a ride on the POCO C50 to reveal and debut in January.
