POCO X5 series: Marketing materials confirm everything

POCO X5 Pro

After a series of teasers and leaks, POCO finally confirmed the launch of the POCO X5 series for February 6th. In Europe, the brand will launch the POCO X5 and POCO X5 Pro, but in India, only the latter will appear. Ahead of the launch, more leaks are popping out! This time, we have a set of marketing images that confirm the specs of the two phones. Of course, these specs are not a mystery. The two devices have been listed by a European retailer before. Anyway, if you’re eagerly waiting for them, it will be good to feed your anxiety.

POCO X5 series details recap

According to the leaks, the POCO X5 5G is a rebranded Redmi Note 12 5G with a major difference – it boasts a different, better CPU. Okay, the SD 4 Gen 1 may offer more efficiency, but the Snapdragon 695 5G is faster than anything else. The POCO X5 Pro, on the other hand, is a rebranded Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed. It brings the MediaTek Dimensity 778G which is a good upgrade over the SD695 which has been inside of the POCO X4 Pro.

You can see the image that summarizes the specs of the phones. The POCO X5 packs a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. It has a centered punch-hole with up to 1,200 nits of brightness and 100% DCI-P3 color coverage. The phone will bring a 48-Megapixel main camera, 8-Megapixel ultrawide snapper, and 2-Megapixel macro sensor. For selfies and video calls, it has a 13-Megapixel shooter. The POCO X5 draws power from a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

When it comes to the POCO X5 Pro, it comes with the same screen but is said to sport Corning Gorilla Glass 5 (the vanilla has the third). The design is the same for the display, but the camera setup is different with a 108-Megapixel main camera. The phone also has a 16-Megapixel selfie shooter. The POCO X5 Pro has the same battery capacity, but charges at 67W. Both phones have side-mounted fingerprint scanners, 3.5 mm audio jacks, NFC, stereo speakers, and IR Blasters. Apparently, the micro SD card slot will be gone.

Android 12 or Android 13?

There are conflicting reports about the Android version. The Redmi Note 12 5G was launched with Android 12 and MIUI 13, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed arrived with Android 13 and MIUI 14. We don’t think that POCO will lose the opportunity to launch both phones with Android 13 at this point. The POCO X5 is based on Note 12, but the different platform makes it a completely different phone. There are no reasons for it to use the outdated software of the Note 12 5G. So, we expect it to get the newer Android update. When it comes to MIUI, it should be the 13th version, as MIUI 14 is still giving its early steps into the global markets.

The design is also confirmed thanks to a set of leaked renders. The POCO X5 will sell in Blue, Black, and Green color options. The Pro will come in Black and Poco Yellow colorway.
