Spotify DJ Feature Can Personalize Your Song Streaming

Spotify’s Stream ON event is going to happen anytime soon, and the company is determined to introduce some new Spotify features. For instance, you might have a redesigned home feed and other updates. Today, the company has launched its new AI feature, and it is called as “DJ.”

Spotify DJ feature will improve and personalize the listening experience. It is similar to radio DJ but will offer a curated selection of music with AI-powered spoken commentary about artists and tracks. The music service calls it “Stunningly realistic voice.”

The music service company always sets a new trend which competitors then copy. With news of AI powered search engines, the company initiates to offer AI powered Spotify DJ feature. The company uses AI very well for personalization experience.

Exactly What Spotify DJ Feature Will Do?

As it is an AI-powered feature, DJ will know users’ interest and play albums they love listening to. In short, it will automatically start playing your favorite album, especially when you are not in a mood to dictate.  This feature is still in beta testing and is only available in English for Spotify premium subscribers across Canada and the US.

The music service company has been dominating the market for quite some time with its unique technology. For example, the playlist Discover Weekly in 2015 has proven very successful for the company. Other playlists such as Daily Mixes, Your Time Capsule, Working Out, and Release Radar are also very popular.

The company says many personalized features are combined in the new Spotify DJ feature, such as 2022 Sonantic acquisitions. Moreover, it says this feature will enable experts, scriptwriters, data curators, and music editors to access the OpenAI Generative AI tech. This will help improve their insights about genres, artists, and music.

Spotify premium features

Gizchina News of the week

The company says the Spotify premium feature will help create “culturally relevant, accurate pieces of commentary at scale.” With this enhanced feature, Spotify makes it easier for users to have a personalized stream of new and old favorite songs. We have something here to focus on: “Accuracy,” as Google and Microsoft are not very successful in it.

They can also listen to the commentary followed by the song it refers to. An example of AI powered commentary is:

“This week, Chicago rapper Polo G teams up with Atlanta’s Future for his first release of the year. This also marks the pair’s first collaboration. Still, they’re united by production from Southside, who has worked extensively with both and is said to be responsible for most of the music on Polo’s upcoming project.”

What if DJ Doesn’t Work?

If DJ doesn’t play songs according to user’s mood, they can click on it again to change artist, mood, or genre. As the feature is in development or testing, good suggestions will work. For instance, what song to skip, how long to play, what is user’s interest, and other features will need time to improve.

Do you know about the majjical voice coming out of DJ feature? If not, search for Head of Cultural Partnerships, Xavier “X” Jernigan. He is hosting the Spotify’s morning show podcast, “The Get Up.” For now, Jernigan’s voice is a part of first model of this feature. Later on, the company will add more voices. It might make its place into Spotify premium features sooner.

How To Access DJ Feature?

You can find the new Spotify DJ feature by following the path: Home page > Music Feed > tap Play on the DJ card. The new Spotify enhance feature will start playing your favorite songs and commentary. This personalization feature works well but needs further improvement, which will come with time.

With AI technology spreading its shadow all over the globe, Spotify is heading the right way to make better personalization. The failures of Bing and Bard are still in the news. But Spotify DJ feature can turn tables upside down with some improvements.
