Epic Games Store fights dirty with Steam: Allows developers to self-publish games

Epic Games

The Epic Game Store confirmed recently that the self-publishing feature will go live on March 9th. This feature will allow developers of different games to freely upload their own games to the store. This is the very first time that the Epic Game Shop will make such a feature available. Formerly, the store could only accept game submissions from invited developers.

The steps developers must follow to submit their games to the store via the Epic developer portal are listed in the company’s blog post. Simply put, creators must create an Epic account, pay a $100 charge for each game, submit the project, and wait for evaluation. Certain games that include particular content, such as pornography, copyright violations, false or viruses, etc., will be rejected by Epic.

The Epic Games Store only takes 12% of the game income share. In comparison to Steam, Epic is way cheaper because Steam can take up to 30%. In reality, developers have the option to employ alternative payment methods in order to keep all proceeds. As long as in-game purchases are made using Epic’s payment system, Epic will waive the royalty fees for games. Also, if a game is offered on other PC marketplaces, it must allow cross-play if it features online multiplayer (including Steam).

The Epic Games Store will definitely add more games as a result of this shift. This will also give the store a stronger chance to compete with Steam. The key concern is, however, whether the platform can manage the enormous expansion of its game library.

Rise of Industry is a strategy game that can be played in Chinese. It challenges the player’s foresight as they construct and improve complex production lines while concentrating on the most crucial aspects of production.

As an industrialist in the early 20th century, the player must maintain the growth of his empire, make changes to the shifting business climate, and cope with unforeseen events that could either lead to wealth or disaster. This is seen in the game’s intro.

According to the Epic Games website, “Call of the Sea” would be given out for free next week. This video game is an adventure puzzle. From March 10th to March 17, there will be no charge for pickup of this game.

Last week’s Free Game was Duskers (a space exploration game)

As for last week, between February 24th and March 3rd, the company gave out “Duskers” for free, Duskers is a space exploration game.  In Duskers, you fly a drone into an abandoned spaceship, and what you see is how each drone sees the world. Motion sensors will tell you there is something out there, but not what it is, and you’ll have to find ways to survive. For those in China, this game is not available in Chinese at the moment.
