Motorola Edge 40 appears on Geekbench benchmark

After months of waiting, Motorola finally brought the Motorola X40 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to the international markets. It came earlier this month with the usual rebranding to Motorola Edge 40 Pro. Curiously, the device came alone, but if it’s the “Pro” we assumed that there was a vanilla to come at some point. Unlike the past years, Motorola postponed the vanilla, but according to a new leak, the wait should not be so long. A new handset believed to be the Motorola Edge 40 passed the Geekbench benchmark. Thanks to it we know some of its key specs and that its launch is nearing the shores.

Motorola Edge 40 Pro

The Motorola Edge 40 passed by Geekbench 6 benchmark with a MediaTek CPU. That is a major difference over the Pro which has the Qualcomm flagship CPU. The phone boasts MediaTek’s MT6891Z_Z/CZA SoC. This is similar to the Dimensity 1100. The phone scored 1,105 points in the Single Core tests and 3,542 in the Multi-Core department. The phone ran Android 13, with 8 GB of RAM onboard. We expect more variants with distinct RAM/Storage configurations.

Gizchina News of the week

Rumors have been pointing to the use of a Dimensity 8020 on the Motorola Edge 40. It’s a new 8000 series variant for premium mid-range phones. However, as we’ve mentioned, the chipset on Geekbench falls in line with the Dimensity 1100 specs. This CPU has the same four cores with 2 GHz, plus four cores with 2.6 GHz. Right now, we will need to wait, after all benchmarks can be a little confusing with details.
